Product guide / Lists
a focused view, never a second copy
Focus the records that matter.
Lists group the companies, contacts, investors, or documents needed for one piece of work. The source record stays where it belongs; the List defines the working view.

Where this helps
Every working view of the data invites a copy, and the copy quietly becomes a second source of truth nobody reconciles.
The question it puts in front of you
Which records actually matter for this piece of work?
Where judgment belongs
You choose the membership. A List never decides what belongs in it.
What gets prepared for you
The working view stays live against the source records instead of drifting into a stale second copy.
Structured work
What a List does — and never copies.
Build a focused, searchable view of existing records without copying source data.
Open contextual Chat or place the List in a Room.
Export the current List as CSV when policy allows it.
Lists in the real world
A short list of priority investors — not a second investor database.
A fundraising team keeps a short List of priority investors without creating a parallel database. A portfolio team groups accounts by fund, geography, strategy, or review cycle while the account record and the relationship history stay shared.
Matrices use the same underlying primitive for typed, versioned decision work. Pipeline, Portfolio, Initiatives, and Connect add their own lifecycle semantics instead of collapsing into generic Lists.
What holds up
What it does well, and what it was never meant to do.
Constraints are a design position, not an apology. Everything on the left ships today; everything on the right we decided against.
What you can rely on in Lists
- Built and managed from the Lists dashboard or straight from Chat.
- Connected agents can keep a List up to date without duplicating rows.
- Exports as CSV.
What we chose not to build
- A List does not replace CRM, Pipeline, Portfolio, or Initiatives.
- Membership never copies or forks the source record.
- Not every List kind carries version history.
- Room download policy can block export.
Outputs & automation
CSV when Room and company policy allow it
None of this is trapped in the interface. The same API and CLI that produce these outputs are how you drive Operalta from your own tools — a script, a terminal, or another product entirely.
